Home Master TMHP HydroPerfection Review (Full)

Engineers at Home Master set out to design a better RO system, one that could eliminate many of the typical problems associated with traditional RO systems. Did they succeed? In our review of the TMHP HydroPerfection Undersink Reverse Osmosis Water Filter System, we discovered that Homer Master has indeed lived up to their mandate.

Using an innovative, advanced filtration system and multiple purification stages, the HydroPerfection Undersink RO System is as close to ‘perfection’ as you can hope to find in a water treatment solution.

Not only does it remove 98 percent of iron, chemicals, heavy metals, sediment, and other contaminants, it also boosts your water with additional minerals that improve the quality and taste. Long lasting filters with high gallon capacity, UV filter, prefilters and a permeate pump help to significantly improve the performance of the HydroPerfection Undersink RO System as well.

Hassle-free, high performing, and cost-effective, the TMHP HydroPerfection Undersink RO Water Filter System exceeds expectations for both quality and performance, at a great price.
Whether it’s a foul odor caused by sulfates, or an unpleasant taste caused by high levels of sodium, nitrates, or even pesticides, reverse osmosis systems can help solve your water problems.

How it Works

While other RO water filtration systems use a multistage filter system that uses 4 – 6 filters, the Home Master HydroPerfection System has nine stages of filtration, purification, sterilization, and enhancement. It uses a combination of sediment, iron, catalytic carbon and reverse osmosis purification to effectively remove up to 98 percent of the contaminants found in tap water or well water.

Once connected to your desired tap water source (ie under the kitchen sink), the Home Master’s pre-iron filter uses an advanced an advanced redox media KDF85 to remove dissolved iron from your water. The mixed media prefilter also utilizes a powerful catalytic carbon to remove harmful chemicals like chloramines, herbicides and pesticides.

Finally, an advanced ultraviolet light sterilization chamber is the final stage, safely destroying 99.9 percent of germs, viruses, and bacteria. Combined, this unique combination of filters and UV technology ensures that your water is safe to drink, healthy, and delicious!

Toxins Removed

Reverse osmosis alone isn’t effective at removing every type of contaminant, but the combination of different filters gives the Home Master HydroPerfection RO system added capabilities you won’t find in a typical RO system.

Whether you want to improve the taste, health, or odor of your water, Home Master’s HydroPerfection system is effective for the following:

  • Iron, Lead, copper, dissolved metals
  • Hydrogen sulfide, chlorine, dissolved solids
  • Chloramines, herbicides, pesticides and other chemicals
  • 60+ Germs, viruses, bacteria and other microorganisms
  • VOC’s

Waste Ratio

Waste Ratio is a key factor when considering which is the best RO water filter system for your home. Reverse osmosis typically produces the highest amount of waste water compared to other types of water treatment. On average you can expect to waste 6.7 gallons for every gallon of water produced, but the Home Master HydroPerfection System achieves some impressive levels of efficiency.

Used for municipal water or a private well, this device can reduce water waste by up to 80%, while increasing water production by up to 50%. In other words, for every gallon of water produced, the HydroPerfection system produces 1 gallon of waste.

Of course, a number of factors can impact the waste ratio. You’ll need to check your well water conditions against the operating conditions stated by the manufacturer to determine how low your waste ratio will be.

Here are the recommended ideal operating conditions as stated by the manufacturer:

  • Feed Water: PSI 40 – 90 PSI.
  • Feed Water Temperature: 40 – 100F.
  • Max. Total Dissolved Solids (TDS): 2000 ppm.
  • Max. Hardness: 10 gpg.
  • pH limits: 4 – 10. Iron: 1ppm.

If conditions in your home are higher or regularly lower than the recommended operating conditions, you may be better served by a whole house filtration system.

DIY Installation And Set Up:

The Home Master system is designed for DIY homeowner installation with lots of support to help you avoid the extra cost of hiring a professional. That being said, if you have handyman experience, then yes, you could install it yourself. If you don’t, however, you may find the user instructions challenging, particularly if you need to install a hole for the RO adapter and the sink faucet. You might be better off hiring a professional to avoid damaging your sink, wall, or pipes.

Thankfully, the tubing is color-coded, and the connection hardware is made from the highest-grade materials available. Installation instructions are included, and there are also installation videos available along with live support. You can also find a ton of YouTube videos that explain the installation step by step.

The Home Master HydroPerfection package contains the following assembled components:

  • 10″ Sediment pre-filter
  • 10″ IRON/ Catalytic Carbon pre filter
  • 10″ Artesian post filter

How To Install The Home Master

Faster Flow Rate

Home Master HydroPerfection uses a patented Perfect Water Technologies’ Fast Flow RO Kit to improve the flow rate. Larger fittings, tubing and high-flow components are part of the flow architecture. Home Master’s Fast Flow RO Kit nearly doubles the water’s flow rate to the faucet. This means you won’t experience a significant drop in water pressure and you’ll still enjoy refreshing, clean water from the tap.

Modular Filter Design

Powerful UV Technology

The EPA has recognized UV technology as one of the four approved water sterilization methods. Ultraviolet light filter has many advantages in fighting microorganisms. In fact, according to many studies, UV light is more effective than chlorine in eliminating viruses without the use of harmful chemicals.

UV light technology also treats the water immediately without changing the water’s chemistry. As tap water enters the ultraviolet sterilization chamber, it’s bombarded with an intense light wave (254 um). The light wave penetrates the cell walls of the living microorganisms, leaving them effectively neutralized.

The Home Master HydroPerfection module operates for a full year at 17,000-microwatt seconds/cm, and safely eliminates more than 60 different germs, viruses, bacteria and other microorganisms.

High Water Efficiency

Home Master has designed a non-electric permeate pump to further improve the HydroPerfection system’s efficiency. When it is running, the noise is very low, so it’s not a terrible distraction.

The pump can potentially reduce water waste by up to 80% and increase water production by up to 50%. It also provides slightly cleaner water by eliminating a condition known as ‘TDS creep’.

Painless Filter Replacement

Traditional RO system filter changes require heavy tools and brute force to loosen canisters sealed shut by hardness minerals and contaminants. Home Master HydroPerfection, however, makes annual changes a lot easier.

The modular design and push-in fittings mean the components come apart easily and secure with less effort. No wrenches are required to change filters or address leaking tubes.

Drawbacks but Not Dealbreakers

While the Home Master HydroPerfection RO Water filter has a lot of great benefits, there are a few drawbacks to consider:

  • Be aware that DIY installation not for everyone! Although the instruction estimate 45 minutes to install, I’d say1.5 hours is more realistic if you don’t have any experience.

  • The modular design means that, initially, nothing is firmly affixed to anything; everything swivels and moves. In other words, when you put it together at first, the drain line, tubes, canisters will jiggle around quite a bit until you fix them into place.

  • You may also find the tubing for the drain line that connects to your water source and the storage tank are too short. Some extra feet of tubing would be a helpful improvement.

  • If you experience leaking due to low PSI supply, there are no instructions on how to remove the tubing from a fitting.

  • Although the filters have a 1 – 2 year lifespan, there is no indicator light to alert you that the filter needs changing!

  • The chrome faucet is not the highest grade quality and will need replacing sooner than you may expect.

  • If you notice leakage from the cap of the UV-610 unit, the factory may not have fully screwed the cap down.
